The Aquarian Tabernacle Church
The headquarters for the Aquarian Tabernacle Church Intl. is located in Index, Washington about an hour east of Seattle, nestled in the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range on Hwy 2, called "The Mother Church" or sometimes "The Tab" for short. Several small church structures house the facilitating activities of the ATC International organization, including the Archpriesthood, the physical campus of the Woolston-Steen Theological Seminary, the covenstead of the Keepers of the Gate Coven, and a small thriving Pagan Monastic Community.
On the Mother Church grounds you can find two permanent ritual circles - the Moonstone Circle est. 1981, and the Garden Circle est. 2017. You can also find permanent Shrines to Hekate and Pan (The Church's Matron and Patron Gods), as well as shrines to Ganesh, Quan Yin, Aphrodite, Dionysus, the Fae, and many other elemental energies. The Keystone Gardens are located below the church's community fire pit.
The Hekate Shrine, installed in the early 1990s, was a gift to the Mother Church with the intention that it would have a permanent public housing. It acts as a final home for the ashes of Pete "Pathfinder" Davis, the Founder of the ATC and our longtime Archpriest, as well as several other beloved passed members of the Pagan community, including Stewart Farrar. In addition, the Hekate Shrine is a reflective, meditative space in which you can commune with the All Mother herself.
The Pan Shrine was established in 2010 to be a place of honor for our Wild Patron of the Woods, Pan. He reminds us to come out and smell the flowers planted at the Mother Church every once in a while. An outdoor refectory, the Pan Shrine shares its space with the Fae, and features dozens of different kinds of thriving plants. Both Pan and the Fae remind us that we are not separate from nature, that we cannot be contained within structures or forms. Pan teaches us to let go, that we are of the Wild, and that it does us much good to return to our wild selves and revel in it.
The Aphrodite temple at the Mother Church is located near the Church's hot tub, to remind us to take care of ourselves by pampering our physical forms. The Quan Yin Shrine holds the remaining parts of cherished items from the church that have broken, either through accident, or over time. Quan Yin reminds us that even the broken things are beautiful and deserve compassion and honor.
There are many other temples and spaces around the Mother Church for you to discover. Please visit the grounds if you can. If they call to you, there are several ways to serve, through supporting care and repair of the structures, through monetary support or the church, or even just through attending events when you can. You can also rent the property for your own personal events, such as weddings and handfastings, rites of passage, or memorials. The church would be thrilled to host your event, contact us at 360-793-1945.
